Life without BID (5) - Less overlapping effort!
Take a read of this report and you can see how insignificant BID's contribution is thought to be in the bigger picture of Minehead's economic prosperity.

When you read this report also take note of the Action Plans and amount of public money sloshing around on projects already, including for events.
This report was commissioned by the Minehead and Coast Development Trust (MCDT) https://www.mineheadandcoast.org.uk
and their mission is: "To encourage and support the delivery of projects and initiatives that improve our community and the visitor experience, enhance services and build a proud and positive identity for our town and its surrounding area."
Shouldn't we be pulling our efforts together and supporting organisations like the MCDT, Minehead Chamber of Trade and the Councils, all of which have overlapping aims with BID?
Clearly Minehead is not reliant on BID which is just so narrow in it's aims to tax businesses and spend for the sake of it.
Forcing some 'specially selected businesses' to pay the BID tax is not right, and as this report shows us there are alternatives from MCDT to the Councils who are already taking long term responsibility for the prosperity of Minehead.
